I am afraid that we cannot get the historical tempdb/log usage unless you save the data in some user database for monitoring purposes.

No.MDA gives only the active usage not the historic usage. As i said earlier it is not possible without having the required data (can be MDA data also) collected and saved to see the max tempdb usage ever. btw,why do you need past tempdb usage details?
