RE: Installes Update as root
Hi Noob,
Welcome in Sybase team! Are you seeing any files with root owner ship, after patch installation? Change file permission to sybase , as file created by root user can't be read by sybase user. I guess, during the patch installation , all changes must succeeded as it is done by super owner. Also let us know which type of patch installation, you are done with root owner, then we can guess for uninstall ! Thanks. RE: Installes Update as root
Noob,
I guess, everything should be fine now. But If the your server is critical business server (PROD/DR/COB/QA), I will suggest you for the uninstall of the patch and go for the fresh installation as a safer side. If you server env is not so much critical and where you can to do some R&D, then this is right time for you. First take the backup all dbs including master n all that, generate the ddl for device and dbs, caches and all that. Save the config file. Bounce back you server and If you get any issue during the restart, try to resolve that. If server comes up with no issue , you are fine, otherwise long process to rebuild all from scratch. (No need to worry, you have backup all ddls). If during restart, if you get any issue please let us know, we all will try to resolve it. It would be good exercise and good learning too. Even you can go for uninstall for Dev also. But without restart we cant predict that every thing is fine with db server. Choice is yours..!!! Thanks.
